This week we have been learning to log on to Matific. We each have our own login and have been learning how to navigate logging in and using the app independently.

Click Here to go to the Matific Log In Page
There is also an App available for download.

Matific has game-based maths learning activities that are assigned by the T group teacher and match the NZ curriculum.

There are lots of fun games that you can also play at home!

We have sent home log in details home in their reading folders.

Scooter Day!

Sometimes during Open Door Friday we are allowed to ride our scooters around the court when the other kids are in the studios.

We had an obstacle course set us and we practised weaving our scooters around the cones.

We even had a few nurses with the ice-packs out just in case of any crashes!

Whio Duck Awareness Month

In Huritini we have:
Tī Kōuka - Cabbage Tree
Whio - Blue Duck

March is Whio Duck Awareness Month.

We looked at the DOC website and listened to the Whio Duck sound. We thought it sounded like a whistle.

We drew some pictures of a Whio duck and talked about what we learnt from the videos.

Dogs help to find the Whio ducks as they are very good at being camouflage because of their colour.

They live in clean, fast-flowing rivers.

Play in Ti Kouka

Play is one of our favourite things to do in Ti Kouka!

Learning through play helps to develop confident, connected actively involved, lifelong learners.  Menzies (2015) states, "We all know that play contributes positively to a child’s sense of well-being. It enhances a child’s natural capacity for intense and self-motivated learning. It helps build creative and critical thinkers and lets children test social boundaries. Play produces curiosity, openness, optimism, resilience, and concentration. It enhances a child’s memory skills, develops their language skills, helps regulate their behaviour, advances their social skills and encourages academic learning to take place."
